African Conservation Experience 

African Conservation Experience (ACE) arrange placements at wildlife conservation projects in southern Africa. Students can join the projects for a duration of 2-12 weeks, year round, and gain valuable practical experience. The projects range from wildlife rehabilitation centres to Big 5 game reserves, and there are opportunities to learn about animal care, wildlife veterinary medicine, field research and reserve management, wildlife capture and relocation and marine conservation. All placements are fully supported, with ACE arranging flights, ground transportation, accommodation and meals and 24/7 support in Africa.

CAW Business School  

CAW Business School was established in 2012 by The College of Animal Welfare to offer business and accountancy programmes to those throughout the Eastern region and beyond. CAW Business School in an AAT approved and ILM approved centre offering accountancy and bookkeeping qualifications as well as both certificate and diploma level leadership and management courses. The courses on offer allow students to gain professional qualifications with flexible study options to increase their future job prospects. CAW Business School also offers apprenticeships in Accounting, Business Admin and Customer Service roles in a range of different organisations so you can earn while you learn.

Critterish Allsorts

Animal Assisted Therapy is becoming a more widely accepted form of healing therapy. Critterish Allsorts (featured on BBC, 5 News & worldwide TV) are seen as worldwide pioneers in the field, and are keen to help others explore this satisfying area of work with animals. Come along and find out how you too can have a career helping others with animals. Critterish Allsorts provide animal presentations for schools, brownies, beavers, cubs, events, birthday parties and more. Their main business and specialism, however, is in providing animal assisted therapy to care homes, psychiatric hospitals and individuals on a 1 to 1 basis.

Cromwell Veterinary Group 

The Cromwell Veterinary Group is one of an elite group of Practices around the world to celebrate over 100 years of Veterinary care. Once a large animal practice, the Practice has evolved to become exclusively a small animal practice in 1997. Today the original surgery in Huntingdon has expanded to become a 24hr small animal hospital and Cromwell Vets now provides care to pets all over Huntingdonshire with branch surgeries in St Ives, St Neots, Ramsey, Cambourne and Sawtry.

Guide Dogs

Guide dogs offers a great opportunity to work with both dogs and people. We offer careers in dog care, training of dogs in the early stages of guiding, supervising the development of pups and also the advance training of the dog, matching to the blind person and the training of both. All of the jobs have a training programme which vary in length and may require going to a central location for theory based training. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People  

At Hearing Dogs for Deaf People we are passionate about our mission to create life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients. We employ a wide range of staff from a variety of backgrounds to help us succeed. Julie has 20 years’ experience of animal behaviour and training. She has lectured on various topics related to behaviour and training for colleges, universities and professional conferences. Julie will be able to give advice regarding educational opportunities and career options.

I have 20 years experience of working with cats and have trained in their behaviour, psychology, general health and grooming. I can offer the same standard of grooming you would receive in a salon in the comfort of your own home. Using patience and love I can groom even the most reluctant cats and help to maintain good skin and coat health and am always happy to give advice to cat owners on looking after their feline friends!

The College of Animal Welfare

Established in 1989 by one of the leading animal welfare charities, Wood Green Animal Shelters in Cambridgeshire. The vision was to use education to help tackle animal welfare issues and the problem of unwanted and abandoned animals. In 1996, the College became an independently managed, not-for-profit, organisation in its own right and changed its name to The College of Animal Welfare. Today, the College has centres in Huntingdon, Leeds, Potters Bar and Edinburgh specialising in training in the land-based sector. We strongly believe that education and training is the key to raising standards of animal welfare. To this end, we strive to create new and accessible opportunities for learning, and encourage employers and those working with animals to undertake appropriate levels of training and continue with lifelong learning and education.

The Royal Army Veterinary Corps 

The RAVC are deeply involved with all aspects of military animal activity, from ceremonial duties with the Household Cavalry or The King’s Troop RHA to the procurement, training and maintenance of Military Working Dogs and their subsequent use in UK and Operational theatres. RAVC personnel enjoy a challenging and varied career involved in all aspects of the use of animals for military purposes, from the animals’ procurement, through their initial assessment and training. Ensuring the maintenance of the animals’ health, welfare and fitness throughout their service life is of the highest standard enables them to be used to their full operational capacity.

Wagz and Whiskers provide pet sitting and dog walking services in and around Godmanchester, Huntingdon. They pride themselves on delivering ‘personalised in-home care when you can’t be there’. The registered pet sitters are all CRB checked, insured and have a variety of experience in behavioural training and First Aid for Animals.
